Why we Came up with the Raven Collection.
As we all know, weddings are an area that is completely steeped in tradition, with the expected ivory or white wedding dress often being the main event! Did you know that Queen Victoria started the fashion for wearing white when she got married to Prince Albert in 1840 and since then, brides have generally stuck to the tradition!
In my previous boutique, Bridal Reloved York, I was seeing more couples who were looking to have a wedding day which really expressed their individuality and their own love stories. Alternative bridal wear and weddings with a difference are becoming increasingly popular.
I love all my brides, but I have a real passion for helping my alternative brides! For this reason, when I opened Maidens & Ravens, I wanted to branch out and really create a collection of dresses that would appeal to them (and me!) which is why I started my Raven Collection. If you already know that you want to break away from the conventional and embrace a more personal, vibrant look then this collection is for you!
The Raven collection draws from sample dresses and vintage pieces in my Treasure Trove that are a bit different as well as being affordable and eco-friendly, as well as customisable dresses from my chosen designers.
How to do Non-Traditional
Here are some ideas if you want to wear something a bit different:
- Non-Traditional Fabrics: Why not think about incorporating a mix of materials like velvet, tulle, or even sequins. These fabrics can add depth and texture to any bridal look.
- Bold Colours: From deep emerald greens to rich burgundy, coloured wedding dresses make a statement. In my opinion, any colour can be bridal, and at Maidens & Ravens my brides are able to embrace their favourite colours which suit their personal style or match a wedding theme.
- Unique Silhouettes: Consider A-line dresses, two-piece sets, or even chic jumpsuits that allow for comfort and movement on your special day. I know it is important to so many of you who want to bust some moves on the dance floor to find a dress you can dance in.
- Customized Styles: Many of my brides opt for customising their dresses. By using a sample wedding dress from my Treasure Trove or opting for one of my made for you designs, I collaborate with the designers to create you a one-of-a-kind gown that tells your love story.
Remember! When it comes to choosing your wedding dress, the most important thing is to wear whatever feels authentic to you. So, if you are ready to embrace the unconventional, book in to see me at Maidens & Ravens in York and I can share my Raven Collection with you.
